Damian Clarke, playing hammer dulcimer
Virtuoso hammer dulcimer & hurdy-gurdy player and fine singer, DAMIAN CLARKE tours internationally.  His concerts are multi-faceted, with stories and sing-alongs, fun, history and romance.  His instruments provide a refreshing change of sound:  haunting, evocative and stirring.  Keen to engage with his audience, Clarke invites you to join in, ask questions, and even to have a go on the dulcimer.  He has a wealth of entertaining tales from over 30 years of touring.  He performs wherever he can, from clubs to castles, house-concerts to markets:  a true modern minstrel!

Tonight we had a Byron setting, and a hit by The Cure to close his set.  Damian started by reviving the first track on his first CD, played simultaneously on hurdy-gurdy and dulcimer, while singing:  a real tour de force.  Well-received by the medium-sized audence.  Wecome attendance of Cath Watkinson & Nic Bradford, who delivered some crisp uptempo numbers, and previous guest Lewis Wood, who borrowed Cath's fiddle to play two of his own compositions.
