TONIGHT’S EVENT POSTPONED pending rescheduling (to be hoped later this year).
This page is where we’ll post updates first.  Also, in case they don’t inform us(!), you can check whether the The Guide Dog itself is open or closed on its Facebook page.

Rising duo based in Salisbury (a thinly-served area – e.g. no folk club – in music terms, surprising given the antiquity of its culture and, presumably, myths), ANTOINE & OWENA give the Tradition a definite twist.  Inspired by contemporary and Trad. folk, they create their own musical blend:  a feast for the ears, the heart and the feet.  Combining original material with their own take on some traditional songs, these multi-instrumentalists deliver an eclectic mix of songs and tunes, both slow and uptempo, which enthuse and entertain.
They won Purbeck Valley Folk Festival's Purbeck Rising competition in 2017 and have been going from strength to strength since then, with regular festival performances, support for the likes of MARTIN & ELIZA CARTHY and Fairport's DAVE PEGG (and been asked by the man himself to support him again!), and a critically successful debut album, released two years ago.  In 2019, they were finalists in Leigh F. F.'s rising talent competition, headlined clubs, and appeared on radio.  This Spring sees a mini-tour launching their latest CD, Something Out Of Nothing, recorded at the prestigious Real World Studios.  It's a mix of traditional and original songs telling of the struggles people have had to overcome in the past, as well as those being faced by this generation.
Of Welsh extraction, OWENA plays fiddle and sings harmony to ANTOINE's lead vocal, bouzouki and guitar.  Despite the French look to the name, he hails from the North:  one of the songs on their new album (Northern Man) is based on his childhood in Doncaster.

Singaround in the hour or so before the main act.  Pass-the-Hat collection for the duo.  Raffle, with wine (as minimum) and a confectionery option as prizes.  M.C.: [most likely] Jon Ellis (his first attendance since returning from India the previous week)
